L.A.’s New 5th Revised MMJ Ordinance.

Tuesday, L.A. City counsel approved the newest Medical Marijuana Ordinance for the city. Revised additions to this ordinance included zoning, caps as well as more clarification with the law. Their will now be a cap of 70 collectives in the City of LA, not including the original 187 before the moratorium in 2007 was placed. The counsel have also stated that 70 was just a starting point, and as time goes by, with more research they can approve a higher number. They have also determined SB420 to be unconstitutional which means MMJ patients now can possess whatever amount suits their needs along with a doctor’s verification. A lot more harsher restrictions have been placed, but for the most part it seems fair. We can be certain more ordinance drafts will appear to amend the previous.
I feel this has gone on way too long. Our city has wasted our tax dollars for a losing fight. With the amount of political and civil pressure marijuana is getting (in a positive way), full legalization is a strong possibility for California in the near future. In november, it will be placed on the ballot.
