3 years ago i dislocated my right shoulder in a stupid skateboard incident. 3 months later i dislocated my left shoulder in a snowboard competition because i was “babying” my right shoulder. Because after every dislocation, it becomes easier and easier to dislocate, i ended up dislocated my left shoulder over 100 times and my right one closer to 40. It ruined me. Instead of listening to the doctor, i continued being active in snowboarding and skateboarding pushing myself harder and faster. I ended up getting surgery in both shoulders and the surgery ended up failing because of how much damage i have cause which could have been prevented. So i then got a new set of surgeries in my shoulders totaling 4 shoulder surgeries in a couple years.
For this whole time i was unable to continue doing the things i loved doing. In total, the whole schmeel cost over $250,000. Thank God for health insurance. I have implanted 22 hooks and 4 screws to keep my shoulders together and a lifetime of pain. The moral of this story is to listen to what the doctor says and DON’T GET SURGERY UNLESS IT’S THE LAST RESORT.
